Invisalign

Crooked or misaligned teeth can cause confidence to dip and make you feel self-conscious. And sometimes the solutions on offer – in the form of unsightly ‘train-track’ braces – are every bit as unappealing as a wonky smile.

The good news is that there are now options for straightening which are so discreet, no one need ever know you are undergoing treatment.

Of all the discreet options available, Invisalign is by far one of the most effective and popular. So, if straighter teeth without conspicuous braces are a must, they could be just what you’re looking for.

What are Invisalign braces?

As the name would suggest, Invisalign braces are almost-invisible aligners that can help to move your teeth to a straighter position. Instead of relying on brackets and wires like traditional braces, Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners which are replaced every few weeks to bring your teeth gradually closer to the desired position.

What are Invisalign’s benefits?

Without a doubt, one of the main reasons that so many people like Invisalign braces is because others cannot see them unless you choose to point them out. Over the years, you will probably have seen lots of your friends wearing braces during their teenage years, and none of them will have made you want to try the treatment for yourself. There is no doubt that Invisalign is different.

Another key plus point is that they can be removed. Of course, you will need to wear them for the majority of the day, but you can take them out for a few hours. This gives you the chance to eat and brush your teeth without having to worry about your braces getting in the way.

What is the process of fitting an Invisalign brace?

When we have decided that you would like to go ahead with Invisalign, we will start by giving you a scan, and then taking an impression of your teeth. The purpose of this is to make sure that we can design your brace to be perfect for you, as each one is made individually for the patient. We send the scan to Invisalign’s lab, and once the aligner has been made, we will carefully put it into place for you, ensuring that you’re completely comfortable with the way that it feels.

We will give you plenty of information at the fitting appointment, including how long you have to wear it for. We will also invite you for your next appointment, which will be in about two weeks to have the brace changed.

When your teeth are in a position that you and we are happy with, the brace will be removed, and we will provide you with a retainer, and give you information about how often you will need to wear this.

How do I care for an Invisalign brace?

The brace is incredibly easy to care for, thanks to the fact that it can be removed. You will need to rinse it each time you remove it. There are no major concerns about caring for the brace, as you will be given a brand new one every appointment, which will be every two weeks. So, the brace will always be fresh and new.

How do I make sure my teeth are taken care of?

It is vital to ensure that you still take care of your teeth, even when you are being treated with a brace. The good thing about Invisalign is that it requires no change to your current dental hygiene regime. You should be strict about your schedule, and make sure that your teeth are cleaned regularly and thoroughly.
