Orthodontics

There are lots of reasons that you may need to consider orthodontic treatment, and the important thing is that you ensure that you opt for the right choice for your personal requirements. The main thing is that we can work together to create a smile that you are more than happy with, and there are many ways in which we can achieve this.

We have put together an overview of our main orthodontic options, which will give you a little information about where to start when it comes to seeking treatment from our Portishead team.

Invisalign

Invisalign is an excellent choice if you don’t want other people knowing that you’re wearing braces. This is because the braces are made from a clear material, meaning that nobody needs to know you’re wearing them unless you choose to tell them. In addition, the braces are removable, which allows you the freedom of being able to eat without having the braces in your mouth.

Aesthetic Fixed Braces

Aesthetic fixed braces are a treatment option for those who don’t want their braces to be noticeable in their mouth. Ceramic brackets and tooth-coloured wires make this option great for those who don’t want to draw attention to their treatment. They are a fixed brace, which means that they will be in place all of the time, and cannot be removed for meals or while you clean your teeth.

Stainless Steel Fixed Braces

These braces are what most people think of when they think of traditional braces. They are made from metal brackets and wires, which sit on each tooth. They are tightened every couple of weeks until eventually, your teeth are in the position that they will remain in at the end of your treatment.

Although these braces are visible, they remain one of the most cost-effective options available. This means that if you’re not too bothered about the fact that people can see them, it could be a great option.

Incognito Lingual Fixed Braces

Lingual braces differ from traditional options, in that the brackets and wires sit behind your teeth, under your tongue, instead of being visible at the front of your mouth. There are several benefits to this, including the fact that nobody can see your braces.

Similar to the option above, these will sit behind your teeth under your tongue, meaning that people won’t be able to see them. However, a great advantage to regular lingual braces is that the 2D versions use flatter, less obtrusive brackets.

How to choose the perfect brace for you

Choosing the right treatment option is critical, as this is the way to get the results that you’re looking for. Our team has a lot of knowledge and experience of each of these options, so we will take a look at your teeth, listen to your thoughts, and then make a recommendation about the treatment that could be the best for you.

We always make sure that we talk you through every stage of the process, and explain everything to you in as much detail as possible. We will also let you know how to take care of your teeth while your brace is in place. If you take the time to choose the right option and follow our instructions when it comes to caring for your teeth, you will have the best possible chance of being more than happy with the results of your treatment.
